Introduction of Our Project -- Anti-fraud of Food

Our company is making the most of the power of the Internet to solve the problem of food safety caused by the EMA and fraud.

At present, counterfeit and shoddy food is epidemic, which results in a lot of food safety problems. There are approximate 70 percent of consumers who are worried about this kind of problem in China.

We believe that food safety problems mainly derive from the following two aspects: One is the food-borne diseases caused by environment and bacteria. The other is EMA (economically motivated adulteration). The former belongs to biological intoxication caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and its toxin, parasites and so on. It is characterized by the non-intention. It can be solved by HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), Optimizing the environment of production, and improving the technical operation standard. The latter, however, belongs to chemical poisoning (such as melamine, methanol, Sudan red, pesticide and veterinary drug abuse, shoddy meat of diseased or dead farm animals, etc.). It is characterized by the intentional fraud and the purpose of earning illicit profit. It derives from the information asymmetry. It is by strengthening afterwards punitive measures, positive prior corporate governance and preventive measures that this kind of problem can be solved.

So, at the present stage, why does the problem of EMA and counterfeit and shoddy food appear to stand out so much?

Previously, there was insufficient food on the market, so there was almost no competition in the food industry. With the development of science and technology, food supply becomes so much that there is a surplus on the market, which in turn makes competition happen. With the competition getting increasingly fierce, the market requires more significant regulatory. In another word, there did exist information asymmetry on the food market before, but there was no motive for fraud. But now there exists so clear active for fraud that the fraud events ensue with it. Because of this, the food market needs more powerful government regulation and more effective mechanism of market supervision to deal with the information asymmetry.

Our company is making the most of the power of the Internet to solve the problem of food safety caused by the EMA. Specifically, food enterprises are encouraged to improve the transparency of food production process and to adopt the program of antifraud and internal whistleblower with rewards online and offline in order to eliminate the asymmetry of information and avoid the occurrence of food safety problems.
